A side-by-side look at how the two platforms handle tracing, evaluation, prompt management and deployment, including where Langfuse is the better choice.
Feature by feature
| Capability | Cloudmind | Langfuse |
|---|---|---|
| License | Commercial, SDK is MIT | Open source (MIT core) |
| Self-hosting cost | Enterprise plan | Free, you run the infrastructure |
| Operational burden | None on managed plans | You operate Postgres, ClickHouse and workers |
| Evaluation depth | Judges, assertions, human review, CI gating | Scores and judges |
| Prompt rollout controls | Labels, review gates, gradual rollout | Prompt versioning and labels |
| Support | SLA-backed on paid plans | Community, paid support on cloud |
When Langfuse is the better choice
Langfuse is open source and genuinely good. If you want to run it yourself for free and have the platform capacity to operate it, that is a defensible choice and we would not try to talk you out of it.
Frequently asked questions
- Is Cloudmind open source?
- The SDKs are MIT-licensed and on GitHub. The platform itself is commercial. Enterprise customers get a self-hosted build, but the server source is not public.
- Why pay when Langfuse is free?
- You are paying to not operate it. Self-hosted Langfuse at meaningful volume means running ClickHouse, and that is a real ongoing cost in engineering time. If you have a platform team that already runs ClickHouse well, that calculation looks different.
